In 2016 Paranor won the public tender issued by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI). After the framework contract for the supply of services in the information technology sector was signed, it was quickly brought to life with an initial set of mandates. The Paranor team now counts five members, who are working on several applications between them.
Our team working at SBFI
The first mandate followed soon after Paranor won the public tender issued by SBFI. The task was to migrate the existing directory of professions from a Filemaker environment to new web-based technologies. This project, which was launched in 2016, saw the first employee from Paranor take up work on behalf of SBFI. A good three years later, the team has now grown to five members. The directory of professions is now one of several web applications that is being maintained and further developed by the team together with employees from SBFI and other external companies.
Multicultural team in exciting surroundings
The current team from Paranor is made up of one woman and four men. The team members come from a wide range of backgrounds and originate from Germany, Mexico, Switzerland and Slovakia.
SBFI has provided the Paranor team with a perfect working environment. Thanks to its very broadly diversified areas of responsibility, the State Secretariat offers many exciting topics for the software developers to work on. Our people are working in the areas of grants/scholarships, research projects, blasting and the directory of professions. Thanks to the manageable size of the development team, its members are able to work on multiple projects and help shape the developments. One of the team members had the following to say about the setup: “The environment at SBFI is very pleasant and allows us to always look for the best solution in the different specialist areas.”
Jens Leutheuser, Project Manager at SBFI, also sees the collaboration with Paranor in a positive light: “I always say: ‘A plan that cannot be changed is a bad plan.’ However, this is only possible if everyone in the team is ready and willing. And this is the case with the employees of Paranor.”
The future cooperation between SBFI and Paranor was secured at an early stage. The Information Service Center ISCeco – which, just like SBFI, is organisationally part of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (WBF) – will take care of software developments for SBFI in the future. In 2019 ISCeco issued a public tender for the supply of information technology services – with Paranor among the successful bidders. This new contract will ensure that the Paranor team will continue to be available for the specialist applications of SBFI.
